Sankofa (san-ko-fah) is a twi proverb and an adinkra symbol of Ghana. The symbol essentially means to use the past to create the future or simply go back and get it. I found that seeing old motifs can be a communicating spirit between spaces and people. In this case, I found that Adinkra symbols, Kente cloth, and other traditional styles of works from Ghana are still being created today and used in new spaces. From some of my findings, I felt the need to make a book elaborating on what I feel is a piece of african art history and its place within the diaspora/the idea of panafricanism.
